Parsippany, NJ - Before you could blink, we were in the top of the 4th. Moriarty and Rubino were in control and it looked like extra innings were on the horizon. But then sophomore Michelle Bauer launched a missile deep into left field. Despite Red Hawk left fielders all out sprint and great relay to get the ball back to the infield, Bauer had already crossed home. The two-run homer put Morris Hills up 2-0. Parsippany managed to manufacture a run in the bottom of the fourth, as Noelle Grande scored after a series of miscues. Bauer finished with two hits on the spring afternoon, while scoring three times. Samantha Barker and Laura Urbanowicz finished with three hits a piece. The Scarlet Knights scored six runs off of starting pitching Kim Rubino. Rubino pitched the first 6 innings, striking out 5. Moriarty went all seven, striking out 11 and only allowing 3 hits. Two of the hits were by Red Hawk third-baseman Kelly Flanagan. The victory was the Scarlet Knight second in a row and moved the Rockaway school to 2-0 in conference play. Morris Hills will face preseason favorite West Essex on Wednesday.
